Matrix Rats Rattery

Colorado & New Mexico's Fancy Rat Breeder.

Burmese Types I Breed For;

I love burmese rats and I can't say how much I have planned for them, I want to keep all my burms pretty much self to help bring out their points to the most potential possible, I strive to keep all my rats show quality and I want my burms to reflect this with very sever selective breeding. I only want the best rats for my breeding, and I can only achieve this by making sure only the best are bred and keeping any imperfections out of my lines. Such as rats with to much white on them. Or badly built bodies, I want my burms to have a nice rounded body with shiny fur that looks glossy, nice big round eyes, and if they are standard I want nicely shaped ears, for my dumbos the lower set the better. But I don't want to neglect the health, temperament and longevity of my burms either so unless my pairing will guarantee me 100% that the babies will surpass their parents in all three categories of;
Health, Temperament, and Longevity then I'm not going to put the pair together.

This is what my goal is for my burms and my standards for this type of rat.
Burmese (aka Brown Burmese)- I want my burmese rats to be the absolute perfection when it comes to the terms of Burmese. In any kind of show terms. A burmese should be an even, rich mid-brown, devoid of dinginess, silvering, or patches, with darker points of the same shade. There is to be a strong contrast between the points and body color. Eyes black.

Best way to get burmese;
  • Burmese X Black Self
  • Burmese X Seal Point Siamese Self (ruby or black-eyed)
A true burmese has points on the nose and shading on the saddle to the tail. If the burm is lacking points on the nose, it is called an " Unexpressed Burmese" This happens if a burmese is bred with a mink, most mink/burm breedings will lead to burms missing points. (this rule goes for mostly all burmese types!)

Sable Burmese ( aka Dark Burmese )- Sable burmese has to be my all time favorite they are just so rich in color that it's like someone dipped them in a pot of chocolate..mmm.. tasty..lol. A sable burmese is to be a warm dark otter brown with subtle darker points on the feet, tail, face, and ears. Devoid of dinginess, silvering, or patches. Contrast between points and body color not to be overstated. Any suggestion of black in the points to be penalised. Eyes black.

Best way to get Sable Burmese;
  • Burmese X Burmese
Blue Burmese - Blue burmese are very cool looking and I believe there aren't that many of them around, so one of my main goals is to have a nice line of blue burmese rats. I know that the blue burmese is suppose to be very awesome looking in both coloring and point contrast. Blue Burmese is best described as a soft, blue-gray with warm overtones. The points are slate blue. Eyes black

Best way to get Blue Burmese;
  • Am. Blue X Burmese
  • British Blue X Burmese
  • Blue Pt Siamese X Burmese
Russian Blue Burmese ( aka Russian Burmese )- Russian Blue Burmese reminds me of warm caramel latte', The way they look is best experience in drinking caramel latte and feeling it run down your throat nice and warm..mmm..makes me want one right now.  The Russian Blue Burmese should be a soft, mid blue-gray with warm overtones and heathering. The points are pale Russian blue. Eyes black.

Best way to get Russian Blue Burmese;
  • Russian Blue Self X Burmese
Wheaten Burmese ( aka Burmese Agouti ) - The Wheaten Burmese is a nice warm looking rat that has a very nice tone in it's fur. Kinda like sprinkling cinnamon all over the rat. The Wheaten Burmese should be a mid sand color, points to be distinctly darker than body color. Base coat to be light brown. Belly color to be pale silvery grey. Eyes black.

Best way to get Wheaten Burmese;
  • Agouti Self X Burmese
The Wheaten Burmese is the only burmese that has agouti in it.. All other types of burmese are bred to Non-Agouti rats!
